16th Noorderlicht Photofestival Groningen (NL), 6 Sept - 4 Oct 2009Aiming to make a festival of beauty that is opinionated and aware, and offering comprehension and a critical perspective in the form of investigative, innovative and inspiring photography. Aurora Borealis (the Noorderlicht publishing branch) will publish a catalogue of all combined exhibitions of the festival.
Submissions welcome! Photographers and curators from all over the world are welcome to send in their work and proposals to participate in the Noorderlicht International Photofestival 2009.
All submissions must relate to the theme of the festival : "Strijd". The Dutch word strijd has many uses and can be translated as: match, competition, contest, dispute, strife, controversy, conflict, struggle, wrestle, fight, battle, combat, war. The title of the festival hasn't been decided yet, but we aspire to address struggles in all guises.
