Prix Photographique Ville de Levallois - Epson

Prix Photographique Ville de Levallois : 2008 - present

Another upcoming festival, 4 November - 17 December, celebrating photography and putting a good spotlight on its Prix winner Alexander Gronsky. After seeing his work/website, I'm a fan of his series and wishing to visit the exposition...

Rencontres; of Bamako 2011, african biennial of photography - Festival from 1 November - 1 January 2012

I can't find information on 2011 prizes and jury. No prizes this time? I did see an Appel à candidatures pour la sélection des artistes présentés dans l’exposition panafricaine, but I can't download/open the documents. Should you be interested, there is a downloadable press kit on the 9th edition of Recontres de Bamako.  Download dossier de press.
"This African Photography Biennial, which is now recognised around the world, has been a key event for the last 17 years in the African and Caribbean artistic programme supported by the Institut français. Through the Bamako Encounters, we have supported African artistic creation around three major themes: supporting creation -by producing prints of the photos in the exhibition, which belong to the artists and provide them with a source of revenues – supporting training –through photography workshops organised in Africa between biennials – supporting visibility –in venues devoted to contemporary art or art marketplaces. Here in Bamako, the World can discover and recognise the creativity of African artists. Bamako is also where artists can meet with professionals to discuss new projects that will allow them to show their work in London, Sao Paulo or Tokyo. And in France, during Paris Photo, we can find the young artists discovered at the Bamako Encounters in recent years. " Read more.

Documentary Photography Projects

Documentary Photography Projects : 2009 - present

Inspirational and very compelling, so totally different from my previous post, are the works or rather stories of these photographers. Have a look yourselves.

Through grantmaking, exhibitions, and training workshops, the Documentary Photography Project supports photographers whose work addresses social justice and human rights issues that coincide with the mission of the Open Society Foundations.

Paris Photo Book Prize

 Paris Photo 2011

This year I should visit Paris Photo fair again. Because Paris Photo will celebrate its 15th anniversary with a theme/exhibition that has my interest : African photography from Bamako to Cape Town, "unveiling the creative wealth of historic and contemporary African artists". Also I'm quite curious to see the four programmes are about that will "articulate Paris Photo’s new identity".

One of which is the “Paris Photo Book Prize” :

For its first edition, the Paris Photo Book Prize will reward a reference photographic book that has marked the past 15 years. The Prize is made with the Aperture Foundation and benefits from the support of Leica. The Paris Photo Photo Book Prize – will be announced on Thursday 10th November, 2011.

Foam International Photography Magazine

.
"In March this year Foam Magazine’s annual ‘Call for Talent’ started for the third time, offering emerging young photographers an opportunity to publish their work. Talented photographers from all over the globe took their chance and submitted their work. With over 900 submissions from more then 50 different countries it turned out to be an enormous success.

This years submissions were of such high quality that Foam Magazine is considering to publish a double-sized issue. The international photography magazine can announce Leonie Purchas, winner of the KLM Paul Huf Award, as the first talent who will have a portfolio published. But who will be the other photographers who may present their work?

The ‘Talent’ issue, entirely devoted to young talented photographers, will come out September 2009!"
